CHRONICLES OF A NOT YET CHAMPION GOLFER #43 | PITCH UPDATE
Measuring progress is so important if you are going to, well, make progress. One of the main areas that I am always looking to get better at is pitching and this Flightscope challenge is one of my favourites…and by favourites I mean, sometimes I like it, and sometimes it makes me want to break my wedges in half.
The challenge is from 60-105 with 5 yard increments selected at random. To gain 5 points, the shot has to be absolutely bang on the money in terms of yardage and target with very little margin for error. For example, for the 60 yarder, you’d have to hit it either 59 or 61 yards and have the line spot on. If you miss the ‘bullseye, the next circle is 3 points, miss that and it’s two, miss that and it’s one, and miss that and you’re in the head off zone.
Anything over 20 points in this challenge is a good effort and on par with PGA Tour tournament stats. Last time around I hit 21 points. My goal with these challenges is to always beat my personal best. And try to remain calm. Both are a work in progress.
Thanks for watching and See You Next Tuesday!
