DIAMONDHEAD, Miss. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men’s golf team is back in action when it tees it up at the Gulf Coast Collegiate, hosted by the University of New Orleans, starting Monday at Diamondhead Country Club.
The 54-hole event will feature 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
Diamondhead Country Club plays 6,769 yards and is a par 72.
There will be a 10-team field that will include: UTRGV, Murray State, New Orleans (host), Nicholls State, North Dakota, Prairie View A&M, Samford, Southeastern, UIW, and UT-Martin.

Last Time Out
UTRGV opened the spring season with a 14th place finish at the Border Olympics last week after posting a three-round score of 905 with rounds of 301, 292, and 312.
Tae Itthiratchai led the way as he finished tied for 11th with a three-round score of 216. Itthiratchai posted rounds of 72, 71, and 73.
Alex Summers finished tied for 55th with a three-round score of 226 after posting rounds of 77, 71, and 78. Henry Fisher came in 71st with a three-round score of 230 with rounds of 74, 75, and 81.
Adam Arif Madzri came in 85th with a three-round score of 237 after turning in rounds of 78, 76, and 83. Luca Portelli tied for 90th with a three-round score of 241 after posting rounds of 86, 75, and 80.
Last Year at UNO Tournament
This is the first year that UNO hosts the Gulf Coast Collegiate after hosting the Battle in the Big Easy last year.
At the Battle in the Big Easy, UTRGV finished tied for third with a two-round score of 581 with rounds of 296 and 285.
Alvaro Hernandez led the way with a sixth place finish with a two-round score of 143 after carding rounds of 76 and 67. Pedro Lamadrid and Luca Portelli finished tied for 10th with two-round scores of 145. Lamadrid posted rounds of 74 and 71 while Portelli turned in rounds of 72 and 73.
Henry Fisher tied for 20th with a two-round total of 149 with rounds of 74 and 75. Euan Gill tied for 29th with a two-round total of 153 with rounds of 79 and 74.
UTRGV will have a quick turnaround as they will next be in action from March 9-10 at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational, hosted by Houston Baptist University.
